Where do you start? Denmark of course, everyone knows they are the world's most harmonious people. You hire two
talented designers, preferably young and good looking and they MUST look mahavalus in black T-shirts, and have the cheek
bones for black and white photography. Meet Christian Mikkelsen who not only met the physical requirements, he wanted
to design watches. Who doesn't ?
One down one to go. Everyone knows, two's company, three is a crowd, especially when designing
anything harmonious. One person can't do harmony and while trios & quartets sound great, too many cooks &
you always end up with too much salt. So the search comes to an abrupt end when young Lau Liengard Ruge arrives on the scene
boldly proclaiming that "toaster design can no longer be improved upon and since that Dyson guy has a complete
lock on vacuum cleaners, I would really like to do watches" Again, I ask ya?
The palette is muted, deliberately
so. Obaku aims not to dazzle but to define. In a world of big busy watches, Obaku offers something different,
the time and tranquility. And they look great with a black T-shirt.
